Chad Charney

A successful two-sport athlete and four-year letterman in both baseball and basketball during his college career at Purchase, Charney enters his six season behind the bench.

Charney finished his Purchase career with 216 total 3s. He held the NCAA record for most consecutive 3s made in a row – nine, which he set on Jan. 19, 2008 against St. Joseph’s College. It was later broken by George Mason's Dre Smith (Jan. 2008).

He captained baseball and basketball at Purchase, earning an All-Conference selection his junior year in baseball. As the team’s ace pitcher, Charney, a former Port Chester High School and All-State standout in baseball and basketball, was in the top five in league strikeouts all four years he pitched, totaling 16 career wins – the most in Purchase College history.

Charney, a Special Education and Social Studies Teacher at Thornton H.S. in Mount Vernon, NY, also coaches Varsity Baseball at Rye High School.

In the Spring of 2014, Charney assisted Rye on a League Championship, Section Championship, Regional Championship and New York Class A State Finalist season for the best season in Rye High School history (23-5 record), Charney’s first season with the program.

Charney also co-directs Westchester Academy Baseball (www.westchesteracademybaseball.com), a travel summer collegiate prep baseball team that journeys the country playing in World Series, Local and National tournaments.

Charney resides with his fiancée, Brittany, in Rye Brook, New York. Â
