Former student-athlete Ben Erkan '22 enters his second season as head coach of the golf team in 2024.
Erkan returns to one of the four teams he played for as a student, as he enjoyed a decorated career spanning five years (2017-2022), competing in golf, lacrosse, swim and volleyball.
Throughout his golf tenure, Erkan had plenty of notable accomplishments, include being named captain, winning team MVP, and finishing in the top-15 at the 2021 Skyline Conference Championship.
Outside of golf, Ben saw plenty of success as well.
In lacrosse, he was named All-Skyline Conference Second Team in 2021, while currently holding the school record for most career goals (73) and ground balls (193). In volleyball, Erkan was named to the Skyline All-Sportsmanship Team in 2022.
"The most memorable moment of my athletic experience at Purchase College was working with the administrators, coaches, and other student athletes, and learning from one another on and off the field.” Erkan said.
His success in multiple sports resulted in him being named the 2022 Athlete of the Year for Purchase College. Ben still participates in local golf tournaments.
Erkan graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, and he is currently pursuing a Master's in Sports Management at Cortland.
He currently resides in Purchase, NY and works in Residential and Student Life at Purchase, where he serves as the Resident Coordinator of Alumni Village.
