Ruggiero enters his second season as the top assistant for men’s lacrosse. He helped lead the 2018 Panthers to a 5-7 overall record, improving on the team’s single win in the previous season.
Prior to coaching at Purchase, Ruggiero was the assistant for the varsity boy’s program at Brewster Academy from 2015-16, and at his alma mater, Castleton University, from 2016-17. At Brewster, he assisted a program in Wolfeboro, NH that reached the NNELL league final. During his stint as the offensive coordinator at Castleton, the team reached the North Atlantic Conference Final.
As a player, Ruggiero began his career at Catawba College in 2010-11, where he was a red shirt freshman. He then transferred to Mercyhurst North East Junior College, where he played from 2011-13. Ruggiero transferred to Castleton University for his final collegiate seasons, 2013-15.
In his senior year at Castleton, he led all midfielders in scoring, finished fourth on the team in overall points, led the team to a NAC Championship title, and aided in the team’s appearance at the 2015 NCAA Tournament.
