College: James Madison '07
Loncar enters his first season behind the bench, joining first-year head coach James Bruno at Purchase. Loncar is embarking on his first coaching opportunity with the Panthers and will be reunited with Bruno, his former coach at Mercy College. During his college playing career, Loncar, a former Mercy team captain, helped the Mavericks go from 3-12 in 2009 to 6-7-4 in 2010, with Bruno on the sidelines.
The new assistant played for storied FC Westchester (85’s/86’s) as a youth player and went on to have a collegiate club career at James Madison University. While at James Madison, he studied and graduated with a B.A. degree in International Affairs in 2007. Later, he played two years at nearby Mercy College as a graduate student, where he scored three goals and handed out four assists as a senior captain.
In addition to his college career, Loncar continues to play soccer when he’s not coaching on the sidelines. He currently plays for NY Croatia SC in the Cosmopolitan Soccer League 1st Division.
“Coach Loncar will bring energy, enthusiasm and the ability to recruit quality student-athletes to the Purchase program,” Bruno said. “I am excited for Marko in this new endeavor.”
