Ryan Cole enters his second season as the head coach of the Purchase College men's volleyball team in 2020. Cole also serves in the role of Athletic Facilities Intern for the 2019-20 school year.
In his first year as head coach of the Panthers, Cole led the team to a 13-16 record overall, 7-3 in the Skyline Conference and a trip to the Skyline Conference Championship Match against No. 1 seeded St. Joseph's College-Long Island.Â
For his success in 2018, Cole was named the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year. His players also enjoyed personal accolades, as he had three players named to the All-Skyline Conference First Team, one to the All-Skyline Conference Second Team and one the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year.
Prior to Purchase, Cole himself was a standout Div. III student-athlete. The recent graduate of SUNY New Paltz was a four-year starter on the nationally ranked men's volleyball team. He was part of the 2016 Div. III National Championship team and named 2016 United Volleyball Conference Champion.
As team captain during his senior campaign, he led the Hawks to another successful season that included an American Volleyball Coaches Association National Player of the Week nod, a Kenneth F. Burda Sportsmanship Award, and a spot on the 2018 United Volleyball Conference First Team. He finished the season with 281 total kills (3.09 per set).
