Joseph Ruesgen

Ruesgen enters his first season with the Panthers this year.  He  has been coaching for the past 12 years in levels ranging from U5 to professional.  His decorated resume includes Div. II Dominican College, Massapequa Soccer Club, New York Greek Americans and The Trinity School in Manhattan, NY.  

Originally from Campbeltown in Scotland, Ruesgen graduated from the James Watt College National School of Sport in Largs, Scotland. 

In 2004, Ruesgen made the decision to leave Scotland after being recruited to play for William Cary College in Hattiesburg, MS.  Despite being awarded Freshman Player of the Year at William Cary, he made the decision to transfer to Dominican College in the fall of 2005 to complete his remaining three years.  He was a three-time NCAA All-Region and CACC All-Conference selection during his Charger career.  The team was ranked in the National Top 25 all three years, 7th being the highest, and made two trips to the NCAA National Tournament 'Sweet 16'.  

After graduating, Ruesgen played three seasons for the New Jersey Express and the Ottawa Fury, making it to the post-season playoffs three times and twice to the 'Elite 8' and All-Eastern Conference selection.  He played professionally for FC Nistru Otaci in the Moldovan National Division.  To this day, he continues to play at the semi-professional level with the NY Greek Americans, making it to the USASA National 'Final 4' in the 2012 and 13 seasons. 


Ruesgen is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA, and currently holds a NSCAA National Diploma and NSCAA Level 1 Goalkeeping Diploma.  He currently resides in Astoria, Queens with his wife Katie.
