Purchase College Athletics

Yates enters her fourth season at the helm of the Purchase College women's tennis team in 2023. She served as the program's assistant coach from 2016-2018.

During a stellar playing career spanning more than 25 years, Yates competed at the high school county and state level, participating in Junior USTA. She was a six-year varsity letter winner—five years for Northport H.S and one year for Riverside H.S.—winning conference champion titles and entrance into county and state draws both on Long Island, NY and in Greenville, SC  She played intramurals at the University of Georgia.

As an adult, Yates returned to USTA competition and accepted an opportunity to try coaching women's tennis.  She discovered that her knowledge and love of the sport could help college players achieve their tennis playing goals, and have fun doing it. Her motto is "Any day that includes tennis is a good day!"

During her tenure as head coach, Anna has led the team to a 2^nd and 3^rd place finishes in both the regular season and Skyline Conference playoffs, including back-to-back births in the semifinals. For the 2021-22 season, Coach Yates was named the Purchase College Coach of the Year for her work.

As an assistant coach, Anna helped lead the 2018 team to an undefeated (6-0) mark in the Skyline Conference and set a program overall record of 11-2.  

Under Yates' leadership, some of her players have achieved the following honors: Skyline Conference Co-Player of the Year, All-Skyline First Team, All-Skyline Sportsmanship Team, Skyline Scholar-Athlete and Purchase College Athlete of the Year.

Yates splits her time between Westchester, NY, Charleston, SC and Surrey, England with her husband and their three children. She continues to compete in both USTA and LTA (Lawn Tennis Association, England). She is a Level 2 Coaching instructor.
