Purchase College Athletics

History is homemade—at least it was on Feb. 4 as Purchase College senior guard Amber Jones etched her name in the record books as the sixth female 1,000-point scorer in program history.

Jones (Bronx, NY) entered the game nine points shy of 1,000. With just over five minutes remaining in the second quarter, Jones sank a deep 3-pointer to reach the momentous mark. Teammate Dejeana Peoples(SO/New York, NY) was awarded the assist.

Following the play, head coach Varrell Eddie called a timeout and joined Jones and the team as midcourt for a photo op. Jones was also given "1000" balloons and a basketball to commemorate the accomplishment.

Jones reached 1,000 after only 2 ½ seasons. She joins Panther greats Jen Danio '08, Jessie Domes '10, Alyssa Guido '12, Jess Lindsay '14 and Elizabeth Osowiecki '16 in the 1,000 club since the program rejoined the NCAA in 2007. She is also the fifth to eclipse the mark while scoring all 1,000 points in Purchase Blue, Orange and White.
