(Sept. 28, 2011) – Purchase pulled out a tough 5-4 road win Wednesday afternoon. The Panthers edged Brooklyn College before torrential rains wrecked havoc on the tri-state area.

Melissa Siller (FR/Roslyn Heights, NY) and
Ashley Bernhardt (SO/Bethpage, NY) teamed for an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles. The duo defeated Katherine Torbov and Maria Sanz, helping the Panthers even the score after

Moriah Ormsby (SO/Montebello, NY) fell at No. 1 doubles.
The tandem of
Chelsea Quinn (SO/Southold, NY) and

Brooklyn's Orkis, the reigning CUNYAC Rookie of the Week, continued her stellar play, taking home victories at No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles. The standout freshman defeated Marden 6-0, 6-2.
However, Purchase countered with wins at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 singles to take the match.
The unsung hero of the day had to be Quinn, who topped Diana Rafailova 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5. Ormsby also took a thriller, winning 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 against Torbov at No. 2. Meanwhile, Siller wrapped up an easy 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 3.
