Annandale-on-Hudson, NY (Sept. 9, 2012) – Bard College outlasted visiting Purchase Sunday, topping the traveling Panthers, 5-1, in a rain-shortened affair a day after the originally scheduled match was postponed due to inclement weather.  

Bard started the day by winning two of the three doubles matches. The Raptors' Jean Wong and Julia DeFabo won at No. 1, and Tessa Von Walderdorff and Chelsea Michaelis prevailed at No. 3.

In singles, Wong topped Moriah Ormsby (JR/Montebello, NY) 6-2, 6-1; Nelle Plotkin cruised over Ashley Bernhardt (JR/Bethpage, NY) 6-0, 6-2; and Anna Gors defeated Chelsea Quinn (JR/Southold, NY) 6-3, 6-3, in the match that proved to be the clincher.

DeFabo,  Von Walderdorff and Michaelis were all playing third sets when the rains came. Melissa Siller (SO/Roslyn Heights, NY) produced the lone win for the Panthers in defeat.

The Panthers fall to 1-1 on the season and will now return home for two straight, starting Tuesday afternoon against non-conference rival John Jay at 4 p.m.
