Box Score

Queens, NY (Sept. 14, 2012) – The Panthers traveled to York College Friday and left for Purchase with a 6-2 victory – their second straight, improving to 3-1 on the season.

The doubles play shined again, sweeping all three pairings for a quick 3-0 start. Moriah Ormsby (JR/Montebello, NY) and Ashley Bernhardt (JR/Bethpage, NY) teamed for an 8-0 win at first doubles. Teammates Melissa Siller (SO/Roslyn Heights, NY) and Chelsea Quinn (JR/Southold, NY) fended off their opponents in a 9-7 final at No. 2 doubles, and Kim Whitehead (SR/Ronkonkoma, NY) and Jasmine Rippey (FR/Deansboro, NY) sealed the sweep in an 8-5 score at third doubles.

Ormsby and Bernhardt added singles wins at first and second singles, respectively, with Ormsby yielding a 6-1, 6-3 score against York's Valerie Roland. Bernhardt was also sharp in a 6-1, 6-0 final.

Although the Cardinals would win at fourth and fifth singles, Purchase's Siller added a key win at third singles. Siller won in a retired matchup (6-1, 2-3) and Angelica Pina (SO/Bronx, NY) outlasted the daylight in a match that was stopped due to darkness at No. 6 singles.

Purchase will look to make it three straight when the Panthers return home for a Tuesday matchup with the City College of New York.
