Purchase, NY
(Sept. 28, 2012) – Although the final result wasn't what the team ordered,
head coach Bill Kutner was pleased by the effort in Friday night's match with the College of Mt. St. Vincent.
The Dolphins won 3-0 – 25-10, 25-8, 25-21 – improving to 6-6 and 2-3 in Skyline Conference play in the process. Meanwhile, Purchase fell to 1-10 overall and 0-4 in league play, despite another valiant effort. The Panthers, a team without a senior leader, continue to string together solid efforts, but the youth and inexperience has provided some level of inconsistency.
“We're young and continuing to work,” Kutner remarked afterward. “Every match is a learning experience as we continue to improve. It's on the job training right now."
The biggest bright spot for the hosts came in the third set. Purchase rallied yet again, but fell short. CMSV and the Panthers had a competitive opening set, but Purchase struggled in the middle game of the series.
Co-captains
Cathryn Mulvey (JR/Scarsdale, NY),

Maggie Brenenstuhl (FR/Schaghticoke, NY) handed out a match-high 22 assists.
Cyndel Hernandez (JR/Bronx, NY) contributed 12 digs in a nice defensive effort.
