Box ScoreEdgewater, NJ (Sept. 11, 2014) — The Yeshiva University women's tennis team defeated Purchase College 9-0 at the Binghamton Racquet Club on Thursday evening.
The loss drops the Panthers to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in Skyline Conference play. The Maccabees are now 2-2 overall and 2-1 in the Skyline.
In No. 1 doubles play, Shani Hava and Jannah Eichenbaum beat the Purchase team of
Emma Yavel (SO/Brooklyn, NY) and
Erika Fulton (SO/Wallingford, CT) 8-3, while at No. 2 doubles, Jenny Tepler and Tova Hirt won 8-3 against the Panther duo of
Roula Zyada (JR/Cairo, Egypt) and
Jasmine Rippey (SR/Deansboro,NY). At No. 3 doubles, Galila Shapiro and Lindsay Frucher beat
Hannah Youssef (FR/Carmel, NY) and
Alyssa Saulle (FR/Staten Island, NY) 8-0.
In singles matches, the No. 1 spot saw Hava beat Yavel 6-0, 6-0, while at No.2 it was Tepler over Rippey 6-1, 6-3. At No. 3, Eichenbaum beat Fulton 7-5, 4-6, 10-4, while at No. 4 it was Frucher over Zyada 6-0, 6-3. In No. 5 singles, it was Shapiro a 7-6, 6-3 winner over Youssef, and at No. 6, Anita Levy defeated Saulle 6-0, 6-0.
Up next, the Panthers are set to host Western Connecticut State University on Sept. 17.
