Graham Breaks Scoring Record as Purchase Cruises Past Maritime

Newcomer Scores Five Goals, Including Hat Trick for Season Mark

Purchase, NY (Oct. 13, 2015) – Junior forward Riley Graham (Red Bluff, CA) netted her third hat trick of the season and broke the program record for the most goals in a season as the Purchase College women's soccer team cruised past Maritime College, 9-1, Tuesday evening.

With the victory, the Panthers advance to 4-9 overall and 4-2 in the Skyline, while the Privateers drop to 5-8 and 2-4 in the league.

Graham has now scored 26 goals on the season, breaking the record of 22 set by Abigail Katz in 2012.  Graham opened up the scoring in the seventh minute off an end line pass from sophomore midfielder Leah Woods (Saratoga Springs, NY).  Six minutes later, Graham notched the record-breaker with a shot taken from the middle of the 18-yard box, assisted by senior forward Marykate McGee (Oceanside, NY).

Senior midfielder Cristina de Jesus (Purchase, NY) increased the Panther lead to three with an unassisted goal at 18:22. 

Maritime quickly answered back with a breakaway to goal scored by freshman Courtney Salatto.  Despite their effort, the Privateers struggled to find the back of the net for the remainder of the game.

The Panthers led 6-1 at the end of the first stanza backed by scored from Graham and McGee.

Junior midfielder Amanda Green (Roslyn Heights, NY) added an seventh goal for the home team and Graham and Woods rounded out the scoring in the 9-1 victory with goals in the 72nd and 87th minutes.   

Maritime rookie goalkeeper Cammie Havens made eight saves in the first half, while sophomore Paige Frankel stopped 12 shots in the final 45 minutes of action.  
 
Purchase returns to Skyline action Saturday with a home game against Mount Saint Mary College starting at noon.
