Lee’s Game-Winning Goal Lifts Purchase in Double OT

Rookie's First Career Goal the Difference

Patchogue, NY (Oct. 3, 2015) Isaac Lee has a flair for the dramatic.

The standout newcomer played hero Saturday at St. Joseph's College-LI, depositing the game-winning goal in double overtime to sink the Golden Eagles, 1-0. Lee (FR/New York, NY) helped Purchase improve to 3-8 overall and more importantly 2-2 in Skyline Conference play.

The score from the foot of Lee shocked the hometown crowd at Danzi Stadium. In defeat, SJC-LI is now 2-8-1, including 1-2-1 in league play.

In the 102nd minute, Lee pounced on a loose ball in the box and buried the game-winning strike.

"Big win for us," Purchase head coach James Bruno said. "Isaac played extremely well."

Lee picked an incredible time for his first collegiate goal. The rookie midfielder, who recorded two shots in the previous game, added two more in the matchup with the Golden Eagles, finishing with the week with four shots and the all-important game winner on the road Saturday.

Backed by keeper Esteban Aguilar (SR/East Hampton, NY), the Panther defense loomed large as well. Injuries also forced Bruno to make some adjustments to positions. Rob Cal (FR/Port Jervis, NY) stepped in and played center back, while Myles Clohessy (SR/Cornwall, CT) moved to outside back in the win. Both cleared balls off the line in the double OT thriller, while Aguilar made some brilliant saves in goal, finishing with seven on the afternoon.

SJC's Avery Gomez made two saves in goal.

The Panthers return to action Tuesday at Brooklyn College.
