Purchase, NY (Oct. 5, 2015) – A roaring start in doubles action paved the way for a 7-2 Sarah Lawrence victory Monday afternoon at Purchase.

SLC defeated the Panthers by sweeping the three doubles matches and then taking four of the six singles matches en route to the victory.

The Panthers captured two of the top three singles outings, including No. 1 singles, where standout Emma Yavel (JR/Brooklyn, NY) posted a come-from-behind 2-6, 6-3, 10-4 tiebreaker in the third set.

But the Gryphons behind Autumn Atkinson and Juliet Slade, who won at No. 2. And No. 4 singles, respectively, bounced back to close the conference match. That duo also won at No. 2 doubles, while teammates Nora Landes and Softia Reh posted an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles, topping the Panthers' first tandem of Yavel and Erika Fulton (JR/Wallingford, CT).

Purchase's Caroline Haldeman-Emmerling (JR/Miami Shores, FL) earned the other singles win in an impressive showing. She coasted 6-2, 6-3 against Reh.

In the loss, Purchase dropped to 4-4 overall, including 1-2 in Skyline Conference play. The win boosted SLC's record to 7-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference.
