Purchase, NY (Sept. 22, 2015) – The Purchase College
women's soccer team dropped a non-conference game to Bard College, 2-0, Tuesday night under their home lights.
With the loss, Purchase falls to 1-6 overall while Raptors advance to 4-2-1 on the season.
The Raptors opened up the scoring in the first three minutes of action after Abbey Labrecque sent a cross to sophomore midfielder Gemma Godfrey, who turned and shot far post from the top of the six-yard box.
Purchase came close to answering back in the 37th minute with three back-to-back shots from
Amanda Green (JR/Roslyn Heights, NY),
Leah Woods (SO/Saratoga Springs, NY) and
Pernille Karlson (SR/Hadsund, Denmark). Green's shot was saved by Bard goalkeeper Kelsey O'Brien (3-1-1) while Woods's and Karlson's were blocked by the Raptor defense. Despite their effort, the Panthers did not find the back of the net and totaled only five shots in the opening stanza. At intermission, the visitors led by a score of 1-0.
Godfrey tallied a second goal for Bard, her third of the season, at 58:44 with the help of Labrecque. The Raptors outshot Purchase, 13-5, in the second half and held the 2-0 lead for the remainder of the game.

Briana Leon (JR/Glen Cove, NY) totaled four saves in net despite picking up the loss.
The Panthers are back in action Friday with a road game against conference foe Farmingdale State. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
