(Sept. 24, 2015) – Purchase College dropped a non-conference women's tennis match, 5-4, to Western Connecticut State University Thursday afternoon on the Westside courts. 
In singles action, Western winners included sophomore Lianne Maynard with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over junior 
Emma Yavel (Brooklyn, NY); junior Carine Jacqué with a 6-2, 6-2 win over junior 
Caroline Haldeman-Emmerling (Miami Shores, FL); and senior Alexandra Moravsky with a 6-3, 6-1 win over freshman 
Nadia Shadi (New York, NY). 
The Western first doubles team of Maynard and senior Angelica Jara defeated Yavel and junior 
Erika Fulton (Wallingford, CT) 8-1, and the second doubles pair of junior Olivia Mauro and senior Alisa Akam stormed back from a 6-3 deficit to close out the Western victory, 8-6.  
For Purchase College, Fulton defeated Mauro 6-7, 6-1, 1-0, senior 
Roula Zyada (Cairo, Egypt) defeated Akam 5-7, 6-3, 1-0, and freshman 
Nastaja Stepec (New York, NY) beat junior Violet Lisi 4-6, 6-3, 1-0.  
In doubles, Stepec and Shadi defeated Lisi and and freshman Clare Callahan 8-3.  
With the loss, the Panthers drop to 4-2 on the season.  Up next, the team heads to Patchogue, NY for a Skyline Conference match hosted by St. Joseph's College-LI on Saturday at noon.
