Panthers Take Part in Conference Playdate

Farmingdale, NY (Sept. 26, 2015) – Women's volleyball traveled to Farmingdale State Saturday to face FSC and Old Westbury in a league tri-match.

FSC earned two wins, while OW split, taking the other match with Purchase. FSC defeated Purchase 3-0. The Panthers fell to OW 3-1.

Against OW in the first match for Purchase, the Panthers took their first lead in the second set after jumping out to a 1-0 advantage. Both teams combined for five lead changes in the second stanza as Westbury used a key 4-0 run to go in front, 22-20.

Down 10-5 in the third set, Purchase battled back with a 14-6 run to take a three-point lead. Westbury took a late 23-21 lead, and Purchase answered with four-straight points to take set three.

Westbury secured the match victory in the fourth set with a late 8-0 surge for a 23-19 lead.

OW's Rayn Brown finished with 10 kills and a career-best 21 digs.

Julia Chirlin (SO/Albany, NY) paced Purchase with a match-high 14 kills while Alex Lally (JR/Sunnyvale, TX) dished out 26 aces.  

Old Westbury took the match 25-18, 25-23, 23-25, 25-21. 

The Rams topped the Panthers with scores of 25-14, 25-9 and 25-11.

FSC libero Francesca Calderon finished the game with 10 aces to spearhead the win. The Panthers were led by Lally, who finished with a team-high three kills and five assists.
