Panthers Fall to Rams

Farmingdale, NY (Jan. 9, 2016) – The Purchase College women's basketball team dropped a Skyline Conference road game to Farmingdale State, 86-59, on Saturday afternoon. 
 
After a low scoring first quarter where Farmingdale (5-8, 4-2 SKY) led 13-11, the Rams started the second with an Amanda Masson layup and a pair of free-throws by Tyra Harrison to open up a six-point advantage at 17-11.
 
Purchase (1-12, 1-6) cut the deficit to 21-18 after jumpers from Elizabeth Osowiecki (SR/Franklin Square, NY) and Allison Haugh (JR/New City, NY) and a layup by Sierra Sangetti-Daniels (JR/Oneonta, NY) with just under four minutes left to play in the second quarter.  The Rams answered back with a Meghan Cleary 3-pointer to bring the Farmingdale State lead back to six. The Rams took a 30-24 lead into halftime as Harrison had a team-high 11 points in the half.
 
Leading 49-36 midway through the third, FSC used a 9-0 run to extend the advantage to 22 points at 58-36. After a layup on Purchase's next possession, the Rams answered with six unanswered points to open up a 26-point lead. Farmingdale State outscored the Panthers 38-16 in the third quarter and led 68-40 heading into the fourth.
 
The Rams led by as many as 32 late in the fourth en route to the 86-59 victory.
 
Harrison led all scorers with 31 points and tallied game-high six assists, while senior guard Camille Romero 16 points, five rebounds and four assists.
 
Purchase was led by sophomore guard Danielle Holmes (Warwick, N.Y.) who poured in a team-high 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting and had 13 boards.
 
The Panthers head to the College of Mount St. Vincent for a Skyline matchup on Tuesday 5:30 p.m.
