(Jan. 22, 2016) – Women's basketball battled back from an early deficit, but ultimately succumbed to visiting Mount Saint Mary Friday, 70-44.
The Knights jumped out to an 11-0 lead and held a 14-1 advantage before the Panthers roared back and pulled within seven, 20-13.
After scoring nine first-quarter points, Purchase was far more competitive in the second quarter, as MSMC outscored the hosts 19-15 en route to a 35-24 halftime margin.
However, MSMC regrouped and was strong in the second half, outscoring Purchase 15-9 in the third and 20-11 in the fourth to seal the win.
The Knights, which improved to 7-10 overall and 5-5 in conference play, were paced by Kayla Cleare and Jessica Rini. The tandem finished with 18 points apiece. Both registered double-doubles, posting 15 and 11 rebounds, respectively.
Purchase drops to 1-16, 1-9 on the season.
Elizabeth Osowiecki (SR/Franklin Square, NY) netted the team high offensively for the hosts. She finished with 18 points, sharing the game-high with MSMC's two top scorers on the night.
