(Oct. 9, 2016) – Purchase women's volleyball earned its first victory of the fall Sunday in a road league tri-match at the Sage Colleges.
The Panthers, which lost to host Sage in three sets, topped Yeshiva 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-13).
Sage opened with a 3-0 win over Purchase (25-3, 25-5, 25-6) and delivered the 350th career win for head coach Sandy Augstein-Collins. Sage then beat Yeshiva University, 3-0.
Against Purchase, Sage posted a .441 attack percentage. Gator outside hitter Michayla Berard racked up a team-best 13 kills with three digs and two block assists and an ace. Sage is now 10-13 overall and 3-1 in the Skyline Conference.
The Panthers were paced by
Isis Gonzalez (FR/New York, NY), who finished with a share of the team-lead in kills (2) and a team-best six digs against Sage.
Against YU, Gonzalez finished with five kills and five aces. The team was led by fellow rookie
Kaitlyn Pillig (SO/Mamaroneck, NY). Pillig netted seven kills and two aces in the team's first win.
Maura Gribbins (SO/Buffalo, NY) added three kills. Newcomers
Mary Adams (SR/Mechanicville, NY),
Joetta Francis (FR/New York, NY),
Kayla O'Connell (FR/Yonkers, NY) and
Ashley Calder (SR/Merrick, NY) also played well in the victory.
