(Oct. 22, 2016) – In its home finale, Maritime defeated Purchase 2-0 Saturday at Reinhart Field.
Prior to the matchup, the Privateers recognized their senior class on Senior Day.
As for the game, the Privateers got second-half goals from Parker Gallt and Justin Forrest. The team scored twice in a seven-minute span to help seal the victory.
In goal, Maritime's Michael Rodriguez was forced to stop four shots. He registered his fourth clean sheet of the season.
The hosts tallied 14 shots overall with five on target.
Both sides had early chances in the opening stages of the first half. The Panthers recorded the first shot on goal but were denied by Rodriguez.
As play moved into the second half, and into the 64th minute, Gallt took a strong shot towards goal that knuckled on the goalkeeper and beat the netminder, as Maritime took the 1-0 lead. For Gallt, it was his team-leading fifth goal of the season.
After Maritime added a second goal minutes later, both sides were unable to get any steady offensive chances through the final 20 minutes of play. The Privateers hung on for the 2-0 victory.
Purchase was led offensively by
Aaron Jones (FR/Highland Falls, NY). He finished the day with three shots, including two of the team's four shots on goal.
Maritime (8-10-0, 4-6-0 Skyline) will play its final game of the regular season on Wednesday afternoon, when the team travels to the College of Mount Saint Vincent.
Purchase (1-13-1, 1-8-1 Skyline) will host Mount Saint Mary on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
