Albany, NY (Feb. 13, 2016) – The Purchase College men's volleyball dropped a pair of Skyline Conference matches over the weekend in a tri-match hosted by the Sage Colleges. The Panthers fell to Ramapo College, 3-0, in the opening match by a line score of 25-17, 25-19, 25-13 and later dropped a 3-0 decision to Sage, 25-16, 25-23, 25-19, respectively.
In the match against Ramapo (4-6, 3-0 SKY), junior
Kevin Carges (Brockport, NY) led the Purchase (4-7, 0-3 Skyline) with 10 kills on 24 total attempts for a hitting average of .333. He also topped the defensive stats with nine digs and one solo block. Teammate
Andrew Schwab (JR/Merrick, NY) tallied 10 assists in the effort. The team hit an even .100 in the loss with 23 kills on 80 attempts and 15 errors.
Ramapo hit .369 in the win with 43 total kills on 84 attempts with 12 errors. Justin Feigeles put away 18 kills and Paul Close added 11 while Jordan Elam picked up seven kills of his own. Mikhael Erumshalimski contributed on 36 points and Close led the defense with eight digs. The team combined for seven team blocks.
In the match against Sage, Carges recorded a game high 17 kills with a .419 hitting percentage for the Panthers. Riley Demerell (JR/Rochester, NY) and Schwab split the assists duties for the Panthers with 18 and 14, respectively. Carges played big defensively for Purchase with a team-high 10 digs and one block assist.
Sage combined for 37 kills with a hitting average of .298. The Gators were led by Ryan Guyton (13 kills) and Bailey Cecci (12 kills).
