Bronxville, NY (Feb. 21, 2016) – The Purchase College men's volleyball team (7-7, 2-3 Skyline) picked up a pair of wins in the Sarah Lawrence College tri-match on Sunday. The Panthers took down Sarah Lawrence in the first match-up, 3-0 (25-10, 25-7, 25-10), and then went on to defeat Yeshiva University, 3-0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-18).
Offensively, junior hitter
Kevin Carges (Brockport, NY) led the team in kills with 20 on the day while newcomer
Luke Kubisch (FR/Delmar, NY) and Chris Williams (SO/Valley Stream, NY) tallied 13 and nine, respectively. Juniors
Riley Damerell (Rochester, NY) and
Andrew Schwab (Merrick, NY) combined for 50 assists in the two victories.
On the defensive side, Carges led with 18 digs while Schwab finished the afternoon with 12. Rookie
Austin Lynch registered 11 digs while McCarthy totaled 12 digs and two block assists.
Yeshiva (2-8, 2-4 SKY) went on to defeat Sarah Lawrence (0-4, 0-3 SKY), 3-0, following its match against Purchase. The Gryphons lost both their matches and remain winless on the season.
