(March 22, 2016) – The Purchase baseball team wrapped up their Spring Break trip with a 14-2 loss to the University of Wisconsin–Platteville Tuesday morning at Terry Park. The Panthers will return to Purchase with an overall record of 5-11.
Senior
Brenden LaPorte (Farmington, CT) led the Panther offense in defeat, driving in two runs on three hits, while classmates
Patrick Rucci (JR/Cortlandt Manor, NY),
Ryan Aponte (JR/Bronx, NY),
Elias Sayad (JR/Wayne, NJ) and
Gregory Walsh (FR/Bethpage, NY) added base hits in the effort.
The Pioneers jumped out to an early lead to start the game. Trailing 4-0 to start the third inning, the Panthers finally got up on the board with a LaPorte double that drove in Sayad and Walsh to score. Purchase's runs would end there as the Pioneers went on a 8-0 run over the five innings.
Senior outfielder Zack Iverson batted 3-for-3 with one RBI to lead the Pioneers to victory.
Colton Bormann picked up the win after five innings on the mound for UW, while
Teofilo Ramirez (JR/Queens, NY) was tagged with the loss for Purchase.
