Purchase, NY (Sept. 10, 2016) – The Purchase women's tennis team earned its first win of the season with a 9-0 sweep over Skyline Conference opponent St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) Saturday afternoon.

Battling the scorching afternoon heat, the Panthers opened up action with 8-0 victories at No. 1 and 2 doubles and an 8-2 win at the No. 3 spot.

Heading into singles play, Purchase led the Bears 3-0.  Caroline Haldeman-Emmerling (SR/Miami Shores, FL) and Abigail Cuddy (SO/Mount Kisco, NY) dominated third and fifth singles, respectively, with 6-0, 6-0 shutouts.  Emma Yavel (SR/Brooklyn, NY) defeated Denise Trerotola, 6-0, 6-2, at the No. 1 singles position while Erika Fulton (SR/Wallingford, CT) earned a 6-4, 6-0 win at second singles.  Nastaja Stepec (SO/New York, NY) and Nadia Shadi (SO/New York, NY)) rounded out the Panther scoring with wins at the No. 4 and 6 spots, respectively.
