Brooklyn, NY (Sept. 11, 2016) – Purchase women's tennis dropped a 6-3 non-conference decision to Pratt Institute Sunday afternoon at the ARC.

Pratt captured the top four singles points and top two doubles flights on the afternoon.   Freshman Amanda Twu earned an 8-4 victory over Emma Yavel (SR/Brooklyn, NY) and teamed with senior Agata Jakubowska for an 8-5 win over Nastaja Stepec (SO/New York, NY). In second singles, Jakubowska blanked Stepec 8-0.

Sophomore Melanie Kania knocked off Catherine Pasquale (JR/Valhalla, NY) 8-2 in No. 3 singles and paired with Haddie Webster for an 8-4 win over Pasquale and Caroline Haldeman-Emmerling (SR/Miami Shores, NY). Webster, meanwhile, outlasted Abigail Cuddy (SO/Mount Kisco, NY) 9-8, 7-5 in No. 4 singles, leading the Cannoneers to the team's second win in as many tries.
 
The Purchase rookie duo of Cuddy and Cailey McKenna (FR/Manorville, NY) tallied the Panthers' only doubles win (8-4) at the No. 3 spot.  McKenna along with teammate Nadia Shadi went on to earn two more points for Purchase with wins at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
 
At 1-3 overall, Purchase returns to play on Thursday with a 3:30 p.m. home match against York College.
