Purchase, NY (Sept. 15, 2016) – Purchase women's tennis tuned up for its highly anticipated Skyline Conference matchup with Farmingdale State by dominating York College 9-0 Thursday afternoon.

The Panthers improved to 2-3 overall, handing York its first loss of the season in the program's opener.

Purchase swept the doubles, winning two of three in straight sets as No. 1 tandem Emma Yavel (SR/Brooklyn, NY) and Erika Fulton (SR/Wallingford, CT) set the tone in a strong 8-0 victory at first doubles.

In singles, Purchase did not lose a single point against their non-conference opponent, a young and developing program in York. The Panthers posted 6-0 wins at No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles, with No. 4 a shortened victory. The singles play was highlighted by wins by Yavel and Fulton at first and second singles and victories for Abigail Cuddy (SO/Mount Kisco, NY), Sofia Rapisarda (FR/Brooklyn, NY), Nadia Shadi (SO/New York, NY) and Tara Persaud (SR/).

The Panthers return to action Saturday at FSC, looking to build off the win. That road match is set for an 11 a.m. start.
