Purchase, NY (Sept. 23, 2016) – Western Connecticut State University women's tennis topped Purchase, 5-4, Friday evening, improving to 3-2 overall.

The tough loss drops Purchase to 3-5 overall.

Emma Chapman and Carole Allers picked up four key wins for the Colonials.  Teamed up at first doubles, the pair won 8-6.  Chapman went on to win her first sigles match, 7-5, 6-4, while Allers posted a 6-1, 6-1 win at second singles.

Down 2-1 after doubles, the Panthers picked up wins at third, fourth and sixth singles.  Despite an impressive 3-6, 7-6 (8-6), 10-8 overtime win by Panther ace Caroline Haldeman-Emmerling at the No. 3 singles spot, Purchase came up one match shy of a victory. 

The Panthers return to action on Sept. 27 against non-conference opponent Lehman College.
