(Oct. 10, 2017) – St. Joseph's College-LI utilized a match-high 11 kills from Jessica Young on its way to a 3-0 win over Purchase College Tuesday night.
Young notched five aces in leading the offense. She was followed by Claire Urizzo and Morgan Tiska, who each recorded seven kills. Teammate and setter Brionna Silva handed out a match-high 17 assists. The visitors were led defensively by Danielle Senecal and her 16 digs – also a match-high.
The Panthers got eight kills from
Maura Gribbins (JR/Buffalo, NY), 11 assists from
Alex Lally (SR/Mesquite, TX) and 12 digs from
Isis Gonzalez (SO/New York, NY). Fellow Panthers
Katie Haynes (SR/Johnson City, NY),
Kaitlyn Pillig (JR/Mamaroneck, NY),
Noelle Miller (SO/Chittenango, NY),
Joetta Francis (SO/New York, NY),
Cynthia Plackis (SR/East Northport, NY) and

The Golden Eagles started strong in a 25-10 first set victory, where the team had nine kills. SJC-LI then responded with 13 kills in the second set and nine more in the third, while the Panthers had their best two sets in the second and third, recording five kills in each of the two frames.
Purchase battled back in the second set, falling 25-17, before losing the match in another hard-fought set, 25-15 in the third.
