Playoff Bound Panthers Conclude Regular Season at Mount Saint Mary

Newburgh, NY (Oct. 25, 2017) – The Purchase College men's soccer team is heading to the 2017 Skyline Conference Tournament. They finished the regular season as the No. 6 seed following Wednesday night's 1-0 road loss to top seed Mount Saint Mary.

The Panthers will now face No. 3 the College of Mount Saint Vincent Saturday in the Skyline first round. That game starts at 2 p.m. Fifth-seeded Old Westbury takes on No. 4 Maritime at 6 p.m. The semifinals are slated for Wednesday, Nov. 1. MSMC and St. Joseph's College-LI (No. 2) hold the two first-round byes. The league final would then be played on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the highest remaining seed.

As for Wednesday night's regular-season finale, MSMC's keeper Tyler Rapp posted his fifth shutout in the victory. Joseph Mesoraca scored his second game-winning goal of the year, as the hosts secured the top seed in a tight win.

The only goal of the game came in the middle stages of the first half on a restart for the Knights. Connor Lynch played a free kick into the box, where Mesoraca headed the ball into the back of the net.

Purchase received three shots from Kayode Tyler (SR/Nyack, NY) and got six saves in goal from Jordan Meade (FR/Olivebridge, NY), who has made a Skyline Conference best 107 stops on the season.
