Bronx, NY (Oct. 5, 2017) – The Purchase College women's tennis squad added one to the win column with a 5-3 victory over Lehman College Thursday evening. Purchase improved to 5-3 overall with the win, while the host Lightning fell to 3-9.
It was great play at the middle of the lineup that sealed the win for Purchase. After sweeping doubles 3-0, the Panthers went on to collect singles victories at the No. 3 and 4 positions. Skyline Conference Player of the Week
Abigail Cuddy (JR/Mount Kisco, NY) battled to a 6-3, 7-6, 10-8 triumph at third singles, and Skyline Rookie of the Week
Raquelle DeCicco (FR/Kingston, NY) won fourth singles 6-2, 6-1.
DeCicco teamed up with
Caroline Haldeman-Emmerling (SR/Miami Shores, FL) at No. 1 doubles, while Cuddy paired with
Catherine Pasquale (SR/Valhalla, NY) at the No. 2 spot. The pairings picked up 8-5 and 8-1 wins, respectively.
Nadia Shadi (JR/New York, NY) and
Amelia Rothbell (FR/Plainedge, NY) completed the 3-0 doubles sweep with an 8-2 victory at the No. 3 spot.
Purchase will next face Mount Saint Mary College at home on Saturday at 11 a.m.
