Home Cooking! Jones Drops 32 on Pratt in Purchase Opener

Purchase, NY (Nov. 18, 2017) – She led the way offensively in the season opener earlier this week, and today in the home opener she didn't disappoint either.

Amber Jones (JR/Bronx, NY) scorched Pratt Institute to the tune of 32 points on 15 of 23 shooting, following up her 27-point performance against John Jay Wednesday with another dandy. Jones lifted Purchase to a resounding 94-34 win Saturday in the Panther home opener – a game where head coach Varrell Eddie got to play a majority of his roster, as Purchase improved to 2-0 to start the season.

Jones added five assists (matched team high) and a game-high eight steals in a terrific all-around effort. Her backcourt mate Kayla Ortiz (SR/Brooklyn, NY) followed with 16 points, while fellow starter Alfa DeJesus (SO/Bronx, NY) added 10 points and 12 rebounds in a double-double effort, and key reserve Nyasia Harris (JR/South Fallsburg, NY) netted a double-double of 12 points and 10 boards off the bench.

Panthers Nadia Shadi (JR/New York, NY), Amber Yarter (JR/Albany, NY), Dejeana Peoples (FR/New York, NY), Lumturja Huseinovic (JR/Brooklyn, NY), Rianne John (FR/Brooklyn, NY) and Giana Fanelli (SO/Larchmont, NY) also made contributions in the team win.

Purchase led 46-18 at the break and never looked back. The Panthers shot 47 percent for the game and limited Pratt to 21.5 percent from the field.

The visitors were led by Amissa Epperson and her 21 points and nine rebounds. Pratt's Kathy Neblett added a game-high 14 rebounds in the non-conference loss, which dropped the Cannoneers to 1-1.
