Zoe Hines (JR/Maplewood, NY) matched her season best – seven goals – in Purchase's dominant victory over the College of Mount Saint Vincent Wednesday. To boot, teammate and best friend
Kelly Turtell (JR/Farmingdale, NY) matched the output, scoring a career-best seven goals of her own. The two recorded 14 of the team's 23 goals in a 23-11 final.
Emma Porter (JR/Homer, NY), the reigning Skyline Conference Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week, scored five times, while teammates
Madi Smith (JR/Lagrangeville, NY),
Virginia Redlon (JR/Carmel, NY) and
Daniella Martins (JR/Mahopac, NY) also found the back of the next. Redlon and Martins had single goals, while Smith scored two in the win.
Hines finished with 12 points on the night. She not only scored seven goals, but also assisted on five more. She also recorded a team-best five draw controls, adding two caused turnovers and one ground ball to her credit.
The loss now puts CMSV at 1-10 overall and 0-5 in conference play.
Kelly Turtell also scored seven times in the road win.
Dolphins Paulina Mandujano and Georgiana Trizano both netted their first career hat tricks, giving them 11 goals each for the season, which is second best on the team. Alicia Forgione scored twice, while Shannon Dalton scored once, bringing both their season total in goals to a team leading 14.
The first half was action packed with goals, as the teams combined to score 10 goals in the opening 9:30 seconds and the first half would see a combined 22 goals.
A three goal run by the Dolphins turned a 6-4 deficit to a 7-6 lead in less than three minutes.
With 18:54 left in the half, Dalton scored, then three minutes later, Forgione would score to tie the game at 6-6.
Less than 30 seconds later, the lead would be CMSV's as Trizano scored with the Dolphins on the man-advantage.
But over the course of the final 15:09, the Dolphins would be outscored 7-1 and go into halftime trailing 14-8.
In the second half, the Dolphins opened up the scoring first, when Mandujano controlled the opening draw and went in on goal and scored to cut the deficit to 14-9.The next four goals would go to the Panthers, to make it 18-9, which would be too big a climb for the Dolphins to overcome.
The Panthers are now 3-6, including 2-4 in league play.
