Purchase, NY (Sept. 9. 2017) – Manhattanville College received a goal in each half from Ashley Pacheco to lead Valiants to a 2-0 victory over Purchase College in a non-conference affair Saturday at GoValiants.com field.

The host Valiants improve to 1-1-1 overall while the Panthers drop to 1-2 in defeat.

Pacheco netted the first goal 18 minutes into the opening half. After a long run down the left side, the freshman attacker shot from 10 yards out and hit just inside the far post.

Minutes later, junior Karen Garces had an open look from 20 yards out but Purchase goalkeeper Amber Yarter (SO/Albany, NY) made one of her 11 impressive saves on the day.

Less than two minutes into the second half, Pacheco would find the back of the net again, this time off a long through ball from teammate Joanna Karp.

In the 50th minute, Purchase senior defender Nina Brennan (Staten Island, NY) was blocked on a penalty kick by Manhattanville netminder Bella Beltrami. Beltrami would face just one more shot the rest of the match, taken by Panther senior Emma Porter (Homer, NY) in the 77th minute.

Purchase will look to bounce back in non-conference action Friday at Lehman College.
