Purchase, NY (Sept. 16, 2017) – The Purchase women's tennis team improved to 2-1 on the season with a 6-3 victory over Pratt Institute in non-conference action on Saturday.

Purchase took a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Senior Catherine Pasquale (Valhalla, NY) and junior Abigail Cuddy (Mount Kisco, NY) battled to an 8-6 victory at second singles, and rookies Raquelle DeCicco (FR/Kingston, NY) and Amelia Rothbell (FR/Plainedge, NY) won 8-0 at third doubles.

In singles competition, Nadia Shadi (JR/ New York, NY) picked up the first win for Purchase, 6-3, 6-0 at sixth singles, to give the home team a 3-1 advantage.  Pratt answered back at the No. 5 spot with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 victory.

Pasquale notched the next Purchase point with a 6-2, 6-2 win at second singles, and DeCicco clinched the team victory after downing Maia Schlussel 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 4 spot.
The Panthers return to their home court on Tuesday for a non-conference match against John Jay.
