(Sept. 24, 2017) – Sophomore standout
Brett Robison recorded her first career hat trick as the Purchase College women's soccer team defeated York College, 6-0, on the road on Saturday.
The Panthers advance to 2-5 overall, while the Cardinals drop to 0-7 in defeat.
Offensive aces
Robison (Franklin Square, NY) and
Cerissa DiValentino (FR/New Paltz, NY) led the Panthers in the victory, tallying a combined five goals for the visitors.
DiValentino opened up the scoring with a goal in the ninth minute of action. Less than four minutes later, she netted her second off a rebound, unassisted.
Robison put Purchase ahead 3-0 with a goal at 14:49. Teammate
Emma Porter (SR/Homer, NY) added a fourth off a cross from
Breann McKeon (JR/Staten Island, NY) in the 25th minute.
Robison tallied her second (team's fifth) at 27:28, assisted by DiValentino.
Purchase had a 5-0 advantage to start the second half. Robison went on to score a hat trick and the final goal of the game in the 57th minute. The goal, scored off a corner kick from
Rebecca Rojas (SO/New Hyde Park, NY), would round out the scoring in the 6-0 Purchase victory.
The Panthers outshot York 39-0 (18-0 on goal) and dominated the game, tallying 11 corner kicks. Despite picking up the loss, York goalkeeper Stephanie Gutierrez tallied an impressive 12 saves for the home team.
Purchase returns to its home turf on Wednesday to host Skyline Conference opponent Sarah Lawrence College.
