(Oct. 13, 2018) – The Saint Joseph's College (L.I.) men's soccer team scored two second half goals en route to a 2-0 victory over Purchase College Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 7-6-1 overall (5-2-1 Skyline), while the host Panthers drop to 4-5-2 (2-3-1 Skyline).

Yianni Amvrosiatos (SR/Warwick, NY) nearly gave the home team a 1-0 advantage with a header that hit off the post at 26:23.
Play remained even in the first half with Purchase holding a 7-6 advantage in shots and a 3-1 gain in corner kicks. Both sides tallied three saves apiece to keep the game scoreless after 45 minutes.
Junior forward Rayneri Ruiz opened scoring at 64:37 with a far post shot taken inside the 18-yard box. The game-winner was assisted by junior forward Damian Duda.
In the 79th minute, a block attempt from the Purchase defense resulted in an own goal and put the visiting Golden Eagles up 2-0. SJC kept its foot on the gas until the final whistle.
In goal for Purchase, standout sophomore
Jordan Meade (Olivebridge, NY) recorded an impressive 13 saves. Despite his efforts, Meade was tagged with his fifth loss of the season.
St. Joe's outshot the Panthers 22-17 (15-7 on net). Purchase had a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Panthers will be back in action on Tuesday (Oct. 16) when they travel to Maritime College for a league game starting at 8 p.m.
