(Oct. 16, 2018) – Purchase women's volleyball jumped back into the win column Tuesday night at home, securing a Skyline Conference sweep over Yeshiva University, 3-0 (25-10, 25-7, 25-15).
After falling behind early in the opening stanza, the Panthers roared back to capture the set, 25-10. The hosts were paced offensively by
Sommer Code (FR/Bronx, NY), who recorded four kills in the first set. Libero
Skyla Schoppmeyer (FR/Oakdale, NY) ignited the offense with six service aces, while
Karina Medina (FR/Brooklyn, NY) guided it with eight assists.
The combination of Code, Schoppmeyer and Medina set the tone in the convincing win.
The Panthers improved to 3-12 overall, winning their first league match of the season (1-5).
In the second set, Purchase rolled, 25-7. The Panthers hit .533 as a team in the middle set and never looked back, sealing the contest in straight sets. The hosts won the third set, 25-15.
For the match, Code led the way with a match-high nine kills. Medina tallied a match-high 16 assists. Schoppmeyer and Code paced the defense with six digs apiece.
YU (1-9, 0-4) was led by Tehilla Teigman, who totaled three kills in the loss.
