Surging Colonials Get Past Purchase

Purchase, NY (Oct. 22, 2018) – The men's soccer team fell to Western Connecticut in a non-conference match on Tuesday night with a final score of 4-1.

An early goal set the visiting Colonials ahead when Chauncy Allers netted a shot to the high right corner in the sixth minute. The Panthers responded in the 20th minute after Ramsey Heitmann (SR/Garrison, NY) scored his first goal of the season off a penalty kick, tying the game 1-1.

Western Connecticut's Mikey Sciortino then capitalized on another first half penalty kick to take the lead back, 2-1.

Allers recorded his 20th goal of the season early in the second half, putting a ball sent from Naseem Thompson in the back of the net.

Sciortino earned his second goal of the game scoring a chip into the box delivered again from Thompson, capping the victory for the Colonials.

Goalkeeper Jordan Meade (SO/Olivebridge, NY) grabbed nine saves, improving his total record for the season to 91.

In defeat, the Panthers drop to 5-8-2 overall.
