Purchase, NY (Oct. 27, 2018) – Women's volleyball concluded its 2018 regular season with a home tri-match against SUNY Old Westbury and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday. The host Panthers dropped their opener 3-1 to Old Westbury and closed the afternoon with a 3-0 loss to USMMA. 

Game 1: Old Westbury 3, Purchase 1 (25-15 ,25-18, 24-26, 25-11)

The Panthers fell to Old Westbury in a four set match. After Old Westbury dominated the first two sets with scores of 25-15 and 25-17, respectively, PC rallied with a strong showing the third set, pulling a 26-24 win and forcing a fourth set. The visiting Panthers then sealed the victory in set four with a score of 25-11.

Old Westbury was carried by setter Kryaleigh Zinnel who tallied the game high 32 total attacks, 24 digs and 18 assists. Middle hitter Joelle Desrosiers contributed 11 kills. 

Purchase rookie Sommer Code (FR/Bronx, NY) lead the Panthers sharing the game high of 32 total attacks. Grace Ann Gropp (FR/Webster, NY) trailed close behind with 30 total attacks and added five total blocks.

With the win, Old Westbury improved to 5-4 in the Skyline. Purchase fell to 1-8 in defeat.

Game 2: USMMA 3, Old Westbury 0 

Conference leaders United States Merchant Marine Academy blew past Old Westbury in a three set victory.

Shelby Bowman lead the Mariners with 13 kills, and Taylor Gillbertson added 10 kills.

Game 3:  USMMA 3, Purchase 0  (25-3, 25-14, 25-13)

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy swept Purchase in a three set victory.

Gilbertson had a stellar first set appearance with seven consecutive service aces to open up the scoring. The Mariners combined for 27 assists and 28 digs. 

Joetta Francis (JR/New York, NY) and Gia Gwin (FR/Yonkers,NY) each notched 12 total attacks. Isis Gonzalez (JR/New York, NY) had six digs.

USMMA holds the top seed in the league with a perfect 10-0 Skyline record.
