Purchase, NY
(Oct. 5, 2018) –
Rebecca Colgan grew her team-best goals total to six on the season after netting her first collegiate hat trick in the Purchase College women's soccer 6-0 trouncing of Yeshiva University Friday morning.
With the win, Purchase advances its 2018 record to 2-5 (1-2 SKY). In defeat, Yeshiva drops to 0-6 (0-3 SKY).
From start to finish, it was all the Panthers as they outshot the visiting Maccabees 38-3, including 22-0 in the opening frame.
Colgan (FR/Valley Stream, NY) opened up the scoring for PC in the 11th minute. The goal came when
Gabby Castles (SO/Bethpage, NY) sent a pass from the end line to Colgan's feet at the top of the six-yard box. The play created a difficult angle for Yeshiva goalkeeper Gabriella Chutter to cover and allowed an open far post shot that found the back of the net.
Colgan went on to score the second and third goals for Purchase, earning the first hat trick of her young Panther career along the way.
Teammate
Allie Scarpa (SO/Vineland, NJ) was next in line to score for the home team. She connected on a pass from
Breann McKeon (SR/Staten Island, NY) at 23:01 to put the Panthers up 4-0. The goal was a collegiate-first for Scarpa.
Purchase continued to create separation in the second half.
Brett Robison (JR/Franklin Square, NY) netted her fourth goal of the season in the 59th minute on a short pass from Colgan inside the 18-yard box.
Jessica Warren (SR/Stony Point, NY) came off the bench to score the sixth and final goal of the game. The goal, a season-first for Warren, was a perfectly placed high shot that went over netminder Rivka Lindenblatt's hands and dipped just below the cross bar.
Ana Jaco (SR/Glen Cove, NY) was credited with the assist.
For Yeshiva, Chutter and Lindenblatt saw a combined of 20 shots on net from Purchase. Chutter, despite picking up the loss, totaled an impressive eight saves in the first half. Lindenblatt recorded another six saves in the second half.
The Panthers look to keep the momentum rolling when they return to their home field to host the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Oct. 10.
