(Oct. 9, 2018) – Genesis Cora Luquis recorded a team-high 11 kills behind a .455 hitting percentage as the Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball team defeated Purchase College in straight sets, 3-0, Monday evening in non-conference play.
Albertus opened set one with a 15-5 lead behind five kills from Luquis.
Purchase battled to within six, 15-9, following a short run, but Albertus sealed the win with a 10-3 run.
In the second stanza, Albertus controlled the set and held a 15-7 lead entering a Purchase timeout. The Falcons closed out the frame with a 10-1 rally sparked by a ball handling error by the Panthers. As a team, Albertus recorded a .400 hitting percentage.
Purchase threatened Albertus in the third, cutting the Falcons' lead to within two, 17-15. However, Albertus claimed set three, 25-17, following an 8-2 run.
The Falcons registered 12 kills in third, compared to 11 kills in both the first and second sets, respectively.
The Panthers were led by
