(Dec. 1, 2018) – The Purchase College men's basketball team remains undefeated in Skyline Conference play after defeating Sarah Lawrence College, 85-79, on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Panthers pick up their fourth-consecutive victory and move to 4-2 overall (2-0 SKY). The visiting Gryphons drops to 4-4 overall (3-1 SKY) in defeat.
Purchase opened up the contest with a 4-2 scoring run in the first 1:30 of the game, but Sarah Lawrence rallied with seven unanswered points to jump ahead 9-4.

Michael Soffer (Agoura Hills, CA) evened the score 9-9 with 15 minutes left to go in the half. The lead would change another five times before a
Jorge Perdomo (SO/Bronx, NY) three-pointer gave PC a lead it would carry through the remainder of the half.
The Panthers had a 44-33 advantage at halftime and added another 20 points in the first 10 minutes of the second stanza.
Trailing 64-49, the Gryphons began to chip away at the home team's lead. Sarah Lawrence came within four points (72-68) of tying the game on a three-point bucket from Andrew Varoli with five minutes left in the game, forcing a Purchase timeout.
Purchase connected on seven of its next eight free throws and added six points in the paint (3-3) to secure the 85-79 victory.
Elijah Lott (JR/East Greenbush, NY) netted a game-high 33 points, a career-best for the Panther newcomer since joining the team this season. He also grabbed 10 rebounds, giving him his fourth consecutive double-double finish of the year.
Maxx Miller (JR/White Plains, NY) followed with 14 points, nine boards and a game-high three blocks, while Perdomo came off the bench to record nine points and two blocks.
Sarah Lawrence saw double-digit scoring from five players, highlighted by BJ Sanders with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Enike Anyia finished with 14 points and seven boards, while Varoli and Jelani Jackson chipped in with 15 and 12 points, respectively.
Purchase is back at home again on Thursday to take on Skyline foe Yeshiva University. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.
