(Mar.24, 2018) – Purchase baseball suffered 4-1 and 8-1 defeats against SUNY Maritime on Saturday at Reinhart Field. The Panthers, now 10-6 overall and 2-2 in the Skyline Conference, look to bounce back tomorrow with a home doubleheader against league foe SUNY College at Old Westbury.

Maritime (11-5, 4-0 SKY) was first to cross the plate. The host Privateers knocked in four runs on three hits and one Purchase error in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Purchase answered back in the top of the eighth.
Dylan Flynn (FR/Smithtown, NY) led off with a single to left field and later advanced to second on a
Matthew Mulligan (FR/Bellport, NY) single through the right side. With two outs on the board and runners at first and second,
Matthew Villalobos (JR/Brooklyn, NY) singled to right center to push Flynn across to score and force a Maritime pitching change. Relief pitcher T. Bruinsma came in to record the final out of the inning.
Maritime tallied another run in the bottom half of the inning before its defense produced a game-ending double play in the ninth.
Game 2: Maritime 8, Purchase 1
Purchase scored its lone run of the game in the top of the first inning. A
