(March 24, 2018) – Western Connecticut State University replaced Wheelock on the schedule this week, coming to Purchase College Saturday for a non-conference matchup.
The Colonials showcased their balanced scoring in a 12-3 final.
Robert Swensen and Eric Caldwell scored hat tricks, leading WestConn to victory. Ryan Reuling (2); Christian Sparacino (2); Pierce Suarez (1); Matthew Paternostro (1) had the other goals.
The Panthers trailed 8-1 at halftime, but looked their sharpest in the second period following WestConn's six-goal first quarter.
Purchase (2-4) hung tight in the contest behind
Dylan Gethicker (JR/Lime Lake, NY),
Ben Erkan (FR/Belport, NY) and
James Felix (JR/Scarsdale, NY). Gethicker finished the afternoon with one goal and two assists for a team-high three points. Erkan and Felix had the home team's other goals.
Gethicker also had a team-best six ground balls and two caused turnovers in defeat.

Matt Sayegh (SO/Hopewell Junction, NY) made 15 stops for the Panthers.
WestConn's Perry Cassidy made eight saves en route to the win in goal. The Colonials improved to 3-3.
