John Jay Rallies for 5-4 Win

Purchase, NY (Apr. 5, 2018) – Thursday afternoon Purchase College hosted CUNY John Jay for a non-conference baseball game against the Bloodhounds. The Panthers would drop the game in heart-break fashion after giving up a walk-off homerun in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Purchase opened the scoring in the top of the first as Patrick Wallace (SO/Manorville, NY) smashed a RBI single to center field to score Gregory Walsh (JR/Bethpage, NY).

The Bloodhounds responded in the bottom half as Garcia scored on a balk.

In the top of the third, the Panthers scored a run to lead 2-1. Brian Cunningham (JR/Westbury, NY) singled to left field, pushing Matthew Nilsen (FR/Bellmore, NY) across the plate.

Purchase added another three runs in the fifth inning on a Walsh single, Dylan Flynn (FR/Smithtown, NY) double and Nick Lasala (SO/Massapequa Park, NY) single, respectively.

In the bottom of the fifth, William De La Cruz registered an RBI single and with two outs, CJ Meyer came through with a two-out two-run single to center field to cut the deficit to 5-4.

Sean Napier escaped a two-out jam with a man on third in the seventh as Osborne made a nice catch down the right field line to keep the score at 5-4.

In the bottom of the ninth, junior Dylan Locke led off with a walk. Ryan Osborne then crushed a fastball over the left field fence to give John Jay a 6-5 walk-off win. The homer was Osborne's second of the season.

The Panthers return to the Purchase diamond this Saturday to host Skyline Conference foe Farmingdale State. Game One of the doubleheader is slated for 11 a.m.
