(Sept. 15, 2018) – Three goals from three different Panthers propelled the Purchase men's soccer team to a 3-0 victory against Green Mountain College Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore midfielder
Thomas Browne (Carle Place, NY) got Purchase (2-2-1) on the board with a penalty kick at the 18:10 mark. The goal marked Browne's first of the 2018 season.
In the 23rd minute, freshman defender
Cristian Ishoo (Irvington, NY) sent a perfectly placed ball over the Green Mountain (2-4) defense. Senior midfielder
Yianni Amvrosiatos (Warwick, NY) collected the loose ball and netted his second goal of the season with a shot taken from the top of the 18-yard box to extend the Panther lead to 2-0.
Senior defender
Aidan Leavens notched his first goal of the season and the final for the game at 29:41. The assist came from an Amvrosiatos free-kick.
The Panthers dominated from the opening to final whistle. Purchase outshot the Eagles 20-9 (10-5 on goal) and held an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Jordan Meade (Olivebridge, NY) notched the win for Purchase with three saves. Rookie netminder
Emiliano Bogdanos (SO/New York, NY) made his Panther debut, relieving Meade for the final 22 minutes of action. Bogdanos recorded two saves on the afternoon.
Purchase returns to action on Sept. 26 with its Skyline Conference opener at Sarah Lawrence College.
