(Sept. 18, 2018) – The City College of New York posted a 3-1 win over Purchase Tuesday night.
The Beavers won 25-18, 25-19, 23-25, 25-17 to improve to 4-5 overall in the non-conference matchup. The loss drops Purchase to 1-3.
The Panthers narrowly fell in each of the sets and edged CCNY in a tight third set.
In defeat, the visitors were led by
Sommer Code (FR/Bronx, NY) and her match-high 13 kills. She added nine aces. Setter
Karina Medina (FR/Brooklyn, NY) handed out 21 assists and
Grace Ann Gropp (FR/Webster, NY) contributed five kills, six aces and one block.
Skyla Schoppmeyer (FR/Oakdale, NY) turned in a standout defensive performance with a match-high 20 digs.
CCNY was led offensively by Nicole Polanco, Nadia Campoverde and Kayle Oge. The trio each notched nine kills apiece. Polanco also recorded 19 digs to spark the defense. Dzeneta Harambasic finished with 26 assists in the win.
